The Financial Services Authority

The Financial Services Authority teams up with YouthNet to help reach and educate young people on financial issues.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has set up a website to provide impartial financial information for young adults called 'What About Money?' The site was designed for, and with the help of, young adults and focuses on the money issues that they are most interested in.

Our partnership:

Recognising the charity's experience in communicating with young people The FSA approached YouthNet to help deliver a resource targeted at a youth audience. The site is broken up into sections, including seven 'life stage guides' that cover events such as having a baby, going to university or getting a job. YouthNet and the FSA are also working together to offer young people the opportunity to confidentially ask a question and receive a personalised answer back.

This service is run by YouthNet and is based on the section 'askTheSite'. YouthNet currently works with the Citizens Advice Bureau to provide answers to young people's finance questions; this service has been syndicated to 'What About Money?'. YouthNet has also syndicated its archive of previously asked money related questions and answers to feature on the website.

The FSA says:

Caroline Hall at the FSA says: "The 'What About Money?' website was designed to address the financial education and capability of young people by providing a one stop-money-information-shop for young adults. The FSA is delighted to be working with YouthNet, who has the expertise and experience of communicating with young people online, to provide written content and a question and answer service on the 'What About Money?' website, as well as linking to appropriate articles on TheSite.org".
