a million for a million ball 2007
Leading business people, sports personalities and young people were among the 300 guests at this glamorous fundraising event, hosted by YouthNet's Founder and Chair, Martyn Lewis CBE.
The event
Thursday 3 May 2007 saw YouthNet's first a million for a million ball in the stunning Great Halls at Vinopolis in central London. The evening - which included a champagne reception and dinner, a range of entertainment, and an interview with a young person who had used TheSite.org for support and advice - was a real night to remember.
An exciting auction of money-can't-buy lots included the opportunity to learn new bowling techniques from Shane Warne, to enjoy a VIP experience at Silverstone, and the chance to get behind the scenes of Her Majesty's Armed Forces.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, ticket sales, and the fantastic auction, a total of £275k (net) was raised – almost doubling the fundraising target set before the event.
A million for a million
Whatever a young person's state of mind, and whatever they're going through, TheSite.org helps them through difficult or distressing times. It's a place young people like David can trust, in confidence and with anonymity. TheSite.org is there for all young people 24 hours a day, seven days a week and makes a real difference to the lives of those who feel they have no-one else to turn to.
Our vision is to reach and support 1 million young people every month
The a million for a million ball was the first event in YouthNet's a £million for a million campaign, which aims to raise £1m over the next three years and double the number of young people supported by www.TheSite.org each month, from 500,000 to one million. Every penny raised from the a million for a million ball will be spent enabling YouthNet to reach more young people through TheSite.org and give them the support that they need to achieve their ambitions and dreams.
The a £million for a million campaign is led by the YouthNet Development Group, chaired by Kyle Whitehill, Vodafone Enterprise Business Unit Director.
