YouthNet Runners in Royal Parks Half Marathon
On Sunday 12 October 2008, 20 energetic runners gave up their lie-in to take part in the first ever Royal Parks Half Marathon, all in aid of YouthNet.
With the autumn sun searing down on them, our runners endured an incredible 13.1 miles. Winding through some of London's most famous landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and the Royal Albert Hall, the route was by far one of the Capital's most scenic.
"All the hours of training were worth it as I crossed the finish line and completed my first ever half marathon!" Sarah McCoy
Cakes sales, pub quizzes and sweepstakes, in conjunction with donations from friends, family and colleagues have enabled our runners to raise over £10,000 so far.
This money will enable YouthNet to reach even more young people with vital support and guidance via askTheSite, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
YouthNet would like to say a massive thank you to our runners, who put endless effort into both their training and fundraising for the run.
If you would like to fundraise for YouthNet, you may be inspired by our range of challenge events. We'll be with you every step of the way, from fundraising ideas and help packs, to training for the event and support and encouragement on the day.
