"Online support is of huge value to young people who may not have the opportunity or confidence to attend a support group or access face-to-face support."

The Tudor Trust is an independent grant-making trust which supports organisations working across the UK. The Trust aims to support work that addresses the social, emotional and financial needs of people at the margins of society. It is particularly interested in helping smaller, under-resourced organisations that offer direct services and involve the people they work with in their planning.

The Tudor Trust's grant of £40,000 allows the consortium behind TheSite.org's 'Self-harm: Recovery, Advice and Support' project (YouthNet, 42nd Street and Depaul UK) to continue to grow and develop this important service through 2009 and 2010. This generous donation will ensure that 15,000 young people who are affected by self-harm have increased access to the online information and support that they need.

"The trustees were impressed with the quality of the information and support around self-harm on offer via TheSite.org, particularly in comparison to what had been available on this topic when they first looked at it three or four years ago," Nicky Lappin, Research and Information Manager, The Tudor Trust.
