v - the youth volunteering charity

Youth volunteering charity v has match funded grants from two charitable foundations to support YouthNet projects that help young volunteers.

v exists to champion youth volunteering in England and inspire a new generation of young volunteers aged 16-25.  YouthNet has been awarded v match funding for two grants from charitable foundations to support:

  • our Volunteer Online Peer Advisor programme, which provides expert training and mentoring to enable young people to answer relationship questions through our askTheSite service;
  • and a project to improve and increase the volunteering opportunities available for young people on the National Volunteering Database (NVD).  The NVD powers YouthNet's volunteering website www.do-it.org.uk, which currently promotes over one million opportunities to volunteer.

v is an independent charity using an innovative new model which allows funds raised from the private sector to be matched by the Government. Up to £50 million has been allocated by the Government for this purpose. v wants to enable a lasting change in the quality, quantity and diversity of youth volunteering.

"We are thrilled to be funded by v, and are extremely grateful for their continued support.  YouthNet is committed to improving and increasing opportunities for young people to get involved with volunteering, and v's support is enabling us to achieve this more than ever before." (Simon Jenkinson, Head of Partnerships at YouthNet).
