YouthNet's award-winning website gets a new look

The online guide to life for 16 to 24-year-olds, TheSite.org, re-launched this week following a redesign to improve user experience and encourage more young people to access the vital support and advice it offers.

The website, run by online charity YouthNet, has a dynamic new look designed by web design agency publicreative.

The new structure and graphics mean that TheSite.org's wealth of information and advice on subjects as varied as sex and relationships, exam stress, drugs, or managing debt is easier to access, and displayed with a more contemporary feel.

Young people can now access the website's bespoke question and answer service, askTheSite, from all pages, allowing users to quickly access it from any page they land on at TheSite.org.

Pages have been widened to reflect that the vast majority of people now have at least 1024x768 monitors. The navigation has been improved, with a more consistent feel throughout the site and the website has been 'future-proofed' by making greater use of modules that can be adapted as the service changes.

The new-look site also makes greater use of photography, showcasing the work of TheSite.org's volunteer photographers.

Olly Benson, TheSite.org Editorial Manager, says: "Whilst TheSite.org has always provided relevant, useful and well-researched content, we felt the way it was being presented looked dated.

"The new-look website will ensure young people can continue to find the help they need, but now in a more interesting and engaging way."

Simon Bucknall, Managing Director at publicreative, says: "TheSite.org website plays a crucial role in offering advice and support to young people, and this represents a real challenge in terms of design and usability. We feel we have created a design that is both visually engaging and ensures that the users of the site can easily reach the information they require as quickly as possible."
